Overview
The Senior Legal Research Analyst provides legal and business research and reference assistance to the Attorneys and Staff, and reports to the Manager, Research/Senior Manager Research/Director, Research.
Duties
- Train and mentor junior researchers;
- Under the direction of the Manager, Research, lead and manage long-term legal research projects, ensuring timely delivery of high-quality work while maintaining a professional, organized, and detail-oriented approach;
- Work with Manager, Research to develop and provide internal training related to research skills, research platforms, and skills related to Generative AI prompting;
- Provide reference, research and support to other Legal Research Analysts, Attorneys, and Staff in a timely and efficient manner. Where applicable, provides in-depth analysis and summarization of results. Bills time to client/matters as appropriate;
- Provide consultative research and reference support advising lawyers on the optimal strategy and source selection to obtain most authoritative and cost-effective results. Bills time to client/matters as appropriate;
- Perform in-depth legal, corporate, financial and/or general research for lawyers, staff, and clients by utilizing the appropriate mix of the firm’s wide range of external and internal legal, business, and news resources
- Collaborate as necessary with other members of the Practice Management Department and the Practice Innovation & Legal Solutions Department on projects and with the Firm’s other departments and teams;
- Assist in the dissemination and organization of information obtained in print and electronic resources/databases;
- Presents and packages research findings clearly and concisely;
- Monitor daily news, legislative and regulatory developments as required;
- Deliver research training to attorneys and staff and assist in the development of new research and reference offerings;
- Stay abreast of latest research resources, technologies and search techniques. Keep department leadership informed of potential additions and/or enhancements to research services;
- Participate in team initiatives to promote research resources, tools, and services;
- Work beyond scheduled hours as required;
- Handle additional related projects as assigned.
Proficiencies
- Expert-level knowledge in English language skills, including punctuation, spelling, grammar, and writing skills;
- Mastery in Lexis, Westlaw, Bloomberg and a wide range of other standard and specialized legal and business research platforms;
- Demonstrated expertise in generative AI prompting and a strong understanding of AI tools and technologies, with the ability to develop effective prompts and leverage generative AI to enhance legal research, analysis, and workflow efficiency while maintaining accuracy, confidentiality, and professional judgment;
- Expert proficiency in Microsoft Office applications such as Microsoft Outlook, Excel and Word, Adobe Acrobat and other common legal systems; the ability to quickly learn and apply new technologies and workflows; and the ability to type 60 WPM;
- Exceptional command of verbal and written communication, with the ability to convey complex information clearly and persuasively to diverse audiences; superior interpersonal acumen and a demonstrated commitment to producing precise, high-caliber work product;

Overview
This position is located in the Israel and Judaica Section, Asian and Middle Eastern Division, Acquisitions and Bibliographic Access Directorate, Discovery and Preservation Services. It is a hybrid position that combines major duties from both the acquisitions specialist and the cataloger. There is a foreign language requirement for this position depending on the geographical area for which cataloging or acquisitions functions are being performed.
The incumbent uses a specific foreign language to perform the following duties in areas of Cataloging Services, Acquisitions Services, Analyzes and Organizes Information and Materials, Library Collections Development, Consultation and Liaison Services, and Librarian Training and Mentoring.
As the Librarian, you will:
- Catalog variety of materials in an automated cataloging environment where the bibliographic characteristics of the material are relatively easy to determine, and cataloging decisions are made within established standards. Search entries in automated and manual catalogs. Assign headings to catalog entries. Select and assign classification numbers. Establish personal and corporate names and uniform titles for inclusion in the name authority file. Establish and recommend subject headings for inclusion in the subject authority file and classification schedule. Create and revise bibliographic records, authority records, and classification schedules. Perform content designation of bibliographic and authority records. Perform research in the cataloger’s reference collection, online databases, the world wide web, and the collections of the Library. Recommend resolutions to problems and inconsistencies in the cataloging process.
- Provide services and deal with materials that are non-technical in nature, of limited technical complexity, or easily acquired. Coordinate proper purchasing information, correct bibliographic identification, and correct coding in the information system. Contact dealers, subscription agents, vendors, overseas offices, government agencies, and/or exchange partners to coordinate the order process. Consult acquisitions reference material to determine whether recommended item is appropriate for purchase, copyright claim, exchange, gift, loan, or other type of acquisition. Examine recommendations for acquisition to identify processing and custodial requirements and to identify acquisition of out-of-scope materials. Maintain liaison with recommending officials and subject specialists to understand their needs. Consult acquisitions reference material to determine whether recommended item is appropriate for purchase. Review and approve invoices for payment for all formats of material. Determine availability of funds.
- Obtain, analyze, and organize information using standard reference tools and established techniques and practices. Analyze and organize standard subject data to determine its relationship to the existing collections, for preferred access points and the need for additional access points. Analyze material to determine subject content. Apply standard rules, guidelines, and reference tools and established techniques and practices. Participate in formulating plans for changes and improvements to cataloging-related issues.
- Use standard methods, techniques, concepts, and principles to perform assignments related to collection development support, with review by supervisor, senior staff and/or recommending officers. Assist in examination of incoming shipments to select items appropriate for the collections, in accordance with established guidelines. Assist in examination of recommendations for acquisition to identify processing and custodial requirements, and to ensure conformity with established guidelines. Participate in formulating plans for changes and improvements to collection development policies.
- Work to maintain personal contacts and cooperative work relationships in order to provide or exchange information. Consult with the supervisor and cataloging policy staff to recommend changes and additions in descriptive and subject cataloging rules. Offer suggestions and advice to the supervisor on operational and technical problems.
- This position requires knowledge of Armenian and/or Georgian, and a highly desired knowledge of Russian. Additionally, a Master’s of Library/Information Science (MLIS) or an advanced degree in a related/adjacent field is highly desired.

Overview
The position is for an Audience Engagement/Southeast Asian Reference Librarian who serves in the Asian Division within the General and International Collections Directorate (GICD), Researcher and Collections Services (RCS) within the Library Collections and Services Group (LCSG)at the Library of Congress (Library). Duties

- Assist with research facilitation, book discussions, tours, workshops, orientation sessions, author talks, workshops, consultations, displays, tutorials, and other means of engagement.
- Assist in developing and editing content for traditional print outlets and social media platforms.
- Enable access, discovery, dissemination, and use of collections and resources, current and historical, analog and digital, for all users.
