About the Position: You will serve as a Librarian for the ARL Technical Library providing professional Librarian services.

Duties
Provide professional Librarian services at the Adelphi site of the ARL Technical Library, including, but not limited to:
- reference and referral services, staff training on the use of digital resources, electronic resource maintenance and evaluation,
- cataloging in all formats, including classified and unclassified technical reports,
- collection development, interlibrary loan services, technical services, and physical maintenance of facility.

Responsibilities: Professional level work in providing library services including reference, readers’ advisory, programming and outreach, and library instruction to the public of all ages. Work requires maintaining considerable expertise in the use of information technology including, but not limited to, databases, email, downloadable e-books, e-audio and the internet. Acts as part of branch’s management team and assists in the management of branch operations and the supervision of branch staff. May assume responsibility for branch operations as designated person in charge in absence of Branch Manager.
Requirements: Minimum Qualifications: Possession of a Bachelor’s Degree and three year’s work experience in a library or educational setting. One year of supervisory experience.
Special Requirement for non-MLS candidates: Completion of Library Associate Training Institute within two years following appointment; and ability to maintain eligibility by completing 90 hours of training every 5 years.
Preferred Qualifications: Master’s Degree in Library Science or master’s degree in related field and one year of work experience in library or educational setting. One year of supervisory experience. Spanish language skills.
Special Requirement: Ability to secure certification as a Professional Public Librarian in the State of Maryland within 120 days following appointment; ability to meet re-certification requirements by completing 90 hours of training every 5 years.

Position: Technical Support Services Staff Supervisor

Responsibilities Principal Duties: supervises library support staff, including assigning and reviewing work, providing training and guidance, overseeing time and attendance, writing, and presenting formal evaluations, planning, and directing staff meetings, and making personnel recommendations. Monitors, performs, and coordinates numerous library support activities, including delivery services, shelving, receiving materials, sorting mail, setting up equipment, etc. Plans the distribution of the Maryland Annotated Code to legislators and Department of Legislative Services staff and addresses any problems that arise in the process of distribution. Coordinates bindery services to include preparing materials for the bindery, liaising with bindery personnel, checking bindery work, and resolving problems, and determining which bound items require cataloging. Organizes and prepares inventories of materials to be sent to the Maryland State Archive. Maintains and collects information for bill files, checks for completion of files and liaises with committee staff to assure completion, and keeps files in a secure location. Manages the in-house digitization of the legislative history file collection, including preparing, organizing, and checking files prior to digitization; scanning files; performing quality control measures to correct mistakes; adding security protocols on the files; and distributing digitized files to other state libraries.
Requirements: Required: High school diploma or equivalency, college preferred; Excellent verbal and written communication skills; Must have the ability to work independently or in teams and can prioritize requests to meet multiple deadlines. Must have a high level of interpersonal skills, flexibility, and adaptability. Maintains a basic knowledge of Microsoft Word and Microsoft Access, and an ability to learn intermediate to advanced functions in various automated library systems. Must have the availability to work extended hours as needed during the 90-day legislative session from January to April. Preferred: Knowledge and familiarity with the Maryland legislature and the legislative process. Previous experience working in libraries or similar work environments.
