Position: Archives Technician
Location: National Archives and Records Administration

This position is part of the National Archives and Records Administration. Incumbent serves as an Archives Technician in Research Services. Incumbent performs non-professional, quasi-professional and technical work that supports access to archival holdings and physical and intellectual control over records. The work encompasses reference, researcher assistance and other customer services, processing, accessioning, arranging, describing, preserving, and reformatting of records.


The following are the duties of this position at the GS-7. If you are selected at a lower grade level, you will have the opportunity to learn to perform all these duties, and will receive training to help you grow in this position.

  • Provide reference service including reference search, re-file, interfile, copy, scan and redact information in various filing systems.
  • Arrange records according to established criteria and/or reviews records to provide input on how series of records should be arranged.
  • Assist archivist with preservation and rehabilitation projects.
  • Assist and prepare general description work and online catalog descriptions according to NARA lifecycle standards.
  • Assist in accessioning and disposal of all record types under the guidance of an archivist or archives specialist.

Position: Librarian (Agriculture and Food Law)
Location: National Agricultural Library
Salary: $126,233 – $164,102

This position is located in the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA), Agricultural Research Service (ARS), National Agricultural Library (NAL), Information Products Division (IPD), Beltsville, MD.

In this position, you will direct the Agricultural Law Information Partnership program which supports the dissemination of objective, scholarly, and authoritative agricultural and food law research, and legal tools, and serve as a subject matter expert in agricultural and food law information.


  • Directs the development and operation of the Agricultural Law Information Partnership to provide a wide range of information products and services.
  • Identifies, develops, and sustains partnerships to promote access to objective, scholarly, and authoritative agricultural and food law research, legal tools, and information.
  • Keeps abreast of current legislative, regulatory, and adjudicatory developments, as well as new publications relating to assigned fields of law and law librarianship.
  • Develops policies and procedures relating to collection development and serves as the recommending and selection officer for United States federal and state legal and legislative materials.
  • Initiates, plans, coordinates, and completes all necessary tasks on special projects and programs, either as assigned or approved by the Associate Director for Information Products and the Leadership of NAL.

Requirements: Do you have what it takes? You hold a bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Organizational Development and Behavior, Peace and Conflict Studies, Psychology, Sociology, or other closely related field. You hold a master’s degree with a focus in Counseling, Human Resource Management, Psychology, Social Work, Organizational Development, or other closely related field preferred. You have five (5) years of related experience. Professional Diversity Certification is highly desirable. You have exceptional communication, interpersonal and relationship skills, excellence in writing, presentation development and delivery, and public speaking to varied audiences. You have knowledge and experience in developing and implementing programs and initiatives that promote diversity, equity, and inclusion in the community; you demonstrate an excellent command of contemporary diversity, equity, inclusion concepts, issues, and resources. You have the proven ability to develop and implement strategies that engage and mobilize diverse stakeholders. You have been an integral part of an organization’s success story. You have demonstrated ability to develop and maintain effective relationships with diverse groups. You have strong problem-solving skills with demonstrated ability to make decisions based on accurate and timely analysis, and to develop new processes and procedures in response to changing needs and system-wide goals. You maintain regular and predictable attendance. You have a current valid driver’s license.
