This position serves as the Director of the Division of Library Services (DLS), and exercises responsibility for leading, managing, and overseeing all aspects of DLS programs and services.
Exercises full technical responsibility for the planning, establishment, organization, development, coordination, and direction of an extensive biomedical library to support continually expanding research programs.
Coordinates library services with scientific information and communication programs conducted by other segments of HHS, other government agencies, scientific organizations and universities.
Manages and ensures the effective use of the resources of the DLS, and sets priorities and future direction for library services and collections.
Organizations and directs studies and demonstrations designed to explore various avenues of scientific communication and the dissemination of medical research findings.
Plans and implements staff development programs to assure employees have the knowledge, skills and abilities to meet the ever-changing information needs of NIH and HHS staff.

Qualification Requirements: In order to qualify for a Librarian, GS-1410 position, you must have:
A. successfully completed at least 1 full academic year of graduate study in library science in an accredited college or university, in addition to completion of all work required for a bachelor’s degree in any field;
B. a total of at least 5 years of combined college-level education, training, and/or experience. This education, training, and/or experience must have provided you with a knowledge and understanding of the theories, principles, and techniques of professional librarianship; knowledge of literature resources; and the knowledge and abilities essential for providing effective library and information services.
In addition to the above basic requirements, to qualify for a Supervisory Librarian position at the GS-15 level, you must have one (1) year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-14 level in the Federal service obtained in either the private or public sector, performing the following types of tasks: identifying vision and priorities by developing long-term, mid-term, and short-term goals and objectives for a Library organization; overseeing the development and management of projects, initiatives and products designed to meet the needs of library customers; making recommendations to library policies, programs, and services based on the information needs of the research community; developing and implementing education and outreach services for a research or scientific library; and providing leadership in the design, development, implementation, and on-going support of various library systems.

Position: Technology Services Librarian

The Loyola Notre Dame Library (LNDL) seeks an enthusiastic problem-solver and collaborative Technology Librarian to support the academic missions of Loyola University Maryland and Notre Dame of Maryland University. This position manages the Library’s educational technologies, including the makerspace; chairs the LNDL’s website committee; collaboratively leads the Library’s digital scholarship program; and supports the technology needs of Library staff. The Technology Services Librarian is highly engaged with faculty and staff, creating partnerships and piloting new services that expand pedagogical support and develop a community of makers.
