Responsibilities: Professional level work in providing library services including reference, readers’ advisory, programming and outreach, and library instruction to the public of all ages. Work requires maintaining considerable expertise in the use of information technology including, but not limited to, databases, email, downloadable e-books, e-audio and the internet. Acts as part of branch’s management team and assists in the management of branch operations and the supervision of branch staff. May assume responsibility for branch operations as designated person in charge in absence of Branch Manager.
Requirements: Minimum Qualifications: Possession of a Bachelor’s Degree and three year’s work experience in a library or educational setting. One year of supervisory experience.
Special Requirement for non-MLS candidates: Completion of Library Associate Training Institute within two years following appointment; and ability to maintain eligibility by completing 90 hours of training every 5 years.
Preferred Qualifications: Master’s Degree in Library Science or master’s degree in related field and one year of work experience in library or educational setting. One year of supervisory experience. Spanish language skills.
Special Requirement: Ability to secure certification as a Professional Public Librarian in the State of Maryland within 120 days following appointment; ability to meet re-certification requirements by completing 90 hours of training every 5 years

Position: Programming & Outreach Coordinator Multicultural Community Engagement

Responsibilities: This is varied professional work providing programming and outreach to the public of all ages. This position includes providing outreach to targeted populations and working on system-wide projects. Incumbent may participate at a system level in training, planning and other committee activities or projects.
Requirements: Minimum Qualifications: Graduation from an accredited four-year college or university with Bachelor’s degree awarded with two years of experience working in a library and/or educational setting. Two years of supervisory experience preferred.
Necessary Special Requirement: Completion of Library Associate Training Institute within two years of hire; and ability to maintain eligibility by completing 90 contact hours of training every 5 years. Proficiency in spoken and written Spanish is required. Valid driver’s license which is not suspended or revoked. AACPL will have your driving record reviewed as a requirement of our insurance carrier.

Location: Prince George’s County Memorial Library System (PGCMLS)

Responsibilities: PGCMLS is currently seeking candidates to fill Branch Manager positions at multiple locations. Branch Managers are responsible for oversight of daily branch operations and supervising professional and paraprofessional staff. Successful candidates will have excellent communication skills that include writing, coaching, and presenting, creativity, and demonstrated values that support diversity and inclusion.
Requirements: Master’s degree in Library Science from an American Library Association (ALA) accredited program. Three to five years of professional library experience including three years of supervisory experience. Maryland Professional Public Librarian certificate upon hire or within six months of hire. Knowledge of supervisory principles, practices, and methods. Knowledge of current trends and developments in the field of public library services, customer service, technology, information services, adult services, youth services, as assigned. Strong written and verbal communication as well as customer service skills. Excellent organization, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills. Flexible and adaptable to change. Ability to work in a labor/management environment.
