Responsibilities: As a member of the Circulation department’s leadership team, the successful candidate will collaborate on strategic priorities, supervision of student assistants, training goals, and policies and procedures for the department at large. The candidate will also ensure that library services are performed safely and efficiently, and library users are served courteously, promptly, and in accordance with the Public Services Division’s values of approachability, cooperation, diversity and inclusion, professionalism, and excellent quality of work. The work schedule for this position is Sunday 12 noon to 8:30 p.m. and Monday to Thursday 2:00 p.m. to 10:30 p.m. This work schedule is subject to change, based on changes in library hours and staffing needs.
Requirements: Bachelor’s Degree or related experience at the substitution rate of 30 college credits to one year of experience; One year in lead supervisory capacity; Three years of experience directly related to the primary duties of this position: customer service, nature and functions of libraries, and organizational and problem-solving skills. Ability to work independently and exercise initiative in applying rules, procedures, and instructions. Ability to work professionally with diverse individuals. Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills; Demonstrated ability to understand and apply principles of quality customer service, teamwork, and conflict resolution
Salary Range: Pay Range 12 (starting at $46,295) based on the University System of Maryland Pay Program

Position: Library Associate Part Time
Location: Harford Community College

Responsibilities: The Library Associate provides customer service at the Library circulation desk and performs a wide range of technical services functions. Duties include registering new library patrons, checking books and other computer and digital equipment in and out, collecting fines and fees, creating student ID cards, and other tasks associated with the circulation desk; assisting and instructing patrons in the use of computer workstations, printers, and other equipment; assisting library users with Microsoft software applications on HCC systems; cataloging library materials in multiple formats; facilitating interlibrary sharing and borrowing; data entry; and other duties as assigned by the supervisor.
Employees of Harford Community College, including instructors for online and virtual courses, must be residents of Maryland or the contiguous states of Delaware, Pennsylvania, Virginia, West Virginia or the District of Columbia; non-residents are expected to relocate to meet this requirement.
Requirements: An associate degree and a minimum of two years of library or related paraprofessional, customer service experience are required. Intermediate-level ability to troubleshoot computers and printers in a Windows environment and excellent communication skills are required. Knowledge of library-specific computerized systems such as Integrated Library Systems (ILS) and national databases such as OCLC is preferred.
Physical requirements include the ability to shelve books, including the ability to lift up to 10 lbs. overhead, stand and stoop for extended periods, and go up and down a step ladder multiple times.
Salary Range: Starting hourly rate range: $15.08 – $16.77
