Job Description Summary:
The George Washington University Libraries & Academic Innovation (GWLAI) seeks candidates for a temporary Research Services Librarian. This is a 40 hours/week temporary position that could be filled by one librarian working full time or two librarians working part-time. This assignment is projected to end at the end of the spring semester.
The Research Services Librarian will provide research support on a variety of topics across multiple disciplines. The Librarian will hold in-depth, one-on-one research consultations with students and faculty both virtually and in person, and provide basic reference assistance via chat, email, and phone. They will perform other related duties as assigned. The omission of specific duties does not preclude the supervisor from assigning duties that are logically related to the position.
The Research Services Librarian will be a member of the Research and User Services team and report to a Director of Research Services.
Minimum Qualifications:
Qualified candidates will hold a Master’s degree in Library Science. Degree must be conferred by the start date of the position.

Preferred Qualifications:
-Master’s degree (or significant coursework completed) in library and/or information science from an ALA-accredited program or equivalent.
-Experience providing research/reference assistance.
-Demonstrate a commitment to providing excellent customer service.
-Demonstrate effective oral and written communication skills.
-Demonstrate the ability to work independently and collaboratively.
-Bonus points for experience supporting GIS or quantitative/qualitative data analysis
