Position: Associate Librarian II
Location: DLLR Workforce Dev – Adult Corrections Program, Jessup, MD
SALARY $38,880.00 – $61,691.00/year

Main Purpose Of Job:
Manage the provision of library and information services and develop programs for inmates using current library practice and technology as defined by Correctional Education library policies and procedures and Department of Public Safety and Correctional Services regulations.

Position Duties:
Delivery of Service- Open and operate the library in accordance with a standard operating schedule and in conformity with Correctional Education Library policies and procedures and Division of Correction regulations. Develop programs to meet the information and reentry needs of inmates.
Planning- Plan for the implementation, promotion, and delivery of services that meet the needs of the full institutional population. Design institutional procedures to ensure increasing usage, access, and information delivery. Develop collection based on population needs, mission of correctional education, and reentry needs of inmates.
Record Keeping- Maintain all records in compliance with library policy, meeting departmental standards for accessibility, uniformity, and confidentially. Prepare written reports monthly.
Program Evaluation- Evaluate monthly statistics and set goals to improve usage where it is incongruent with the size of the institutional population or lower than usage in other Correctional Education libraries of similar size.
Management – Recruit, train, and supervise inmate aides to work in the library in accordance with Correctional Education library goals and objectives. Participate in professional development learning opportunities to assure that skills are consistent with current library practice and with information retrieval and delivery techniques.

Library Associate I or II – Bel Air Branch (Children’s Services) (15 hours per week): Nature of work: Works collaboratively with staff in a team approach to provide a variety of services to customers that may include information, reader’s advisory, computer instruction, in-house programming, community outreach, collection responsibilities and other related tasks. Meets minimum public service hours as defined by Library Administration.

Library Associate I or II – Bel Air Branch (Children’s Services): Nature of work: Responsible for coordinating and managing specialized collection and programming for Library’s Sharing the Gift program and managing the collection of Learning and Sharing Center within the branch. Duties also include providing information and reference services to library customers, collection area responsibilities and in-house programming and outreach. Meets minimum public service hours as defined by Library Administration.

Library Associate I or II – Bel Air Branch (Children’s Services) (30 hours per week): Nature of work: Provides a variety of services to customers to include information, reader’s advisory, computer instruction, training, in-house programming and community outreach, collection development and other related tasks. Works collaboratively with staff in a team approach to public service; plans and implements programs for children’s groups and audiences; and works on reference desk. Meets minimum public service hours as defined by Library Administration.

Library Associate I or II – Joppa Branch (Teen Services): Nature of work: Provides a variety of services to customers to include information, reader’s advisory, computer instruction, training, in-house programming and community outreach, collection development and other related tasks. Works collaboratively with staff in a team approach to public service; plans and implements programs for teen groups and audiences; and works on reference desk. Meets minimum public service hours as defined by Library Administration.

Position: Reference Librarian
Location: Academic Library, Germantown, MD

LAC Federal is seeking an experienced Reference Librarian to provide part-time (up to 20 hours a week) reference and research assistance at an academic library in Germantown, MD. This is a contract Librarian position that will start March 19 and conclude by May 12. Extension to summer and/or fall semester is possible but not guaranteed.

The Librarian will provide instruction and answer ready reference questions in addition to assisting with reference requests. The Librarian will also provide outreach and instruction on the use of library resources including print and non-print formats. Other duties as assigned.
