Position: Research Librarian (Domestic Social Policy)
Location: Library of Congress, Washington, DC
Salary: $66,510 to $86,460 per year

The Congressional Research Service (CRS) seeks a Research Librarian for the Research & Library Services Section of the Domestic Social Policy Division. The section broadly supports the work of Congress in issue areas including income security, veterans benefits, health care, education, labor, housing, child welfare and nutrition assistance.

This Research Librarian position will provide research and library services to CRS policy analysts and congressional clients, focusing on the areas of domestic social policy generally and in particular issues related to Social Security, retirement programs for federal workers, retirement savings plans, private pensions, and veterans benefit programs.

Candidates with a Master of Library Science (MLS) or equivalent degree and background working in a library, information center, or research organization are encouraged to apply. Previous experience with public speaking in an instructional capacity is desired.

CRS works exclusively for the United States Congress, providing policy and legal analysis to committees and Members of both the House and Senate, regardless of party affiliation. Position: Foreign Language Catalogers (Temporary Employment Opportunity)
Location: Backstage Library Works, Washington, DC
Salary: $25.00 – $25.00 (Hourly Wage)

Backstage Library Works is seeking Catalogers to work on-site at the Library of Congress, processing German, Spanish, and Russian language materials. The project is expected to run through July 2018, but each cataloger’s employment will conclude with the completion of their language category.

The catalogers will work with materials to create original MARC records according to the Library’s RDA record guidelines. Prior cataloging experience is a firm requirement. Prior to hiring, each cataloger must demonstrate knowledge of the language for which they are applying to process.

Catalogers may be hired as full time hourly employees of Backstage Library Works, or as independent contractors working at a per-record rate (see below for details). All work must be performed on site at the library but contract catalogers are welcome and encouraged to apply.

Catalogers should clearly state their language of expertise in their cover letter.

Position: Senior Research Associate (Curator)
Location: Federal Digital Library and Repository, Washington, DC

LAC Federal is seeking a Senior Research Associate (Curator) to provide strategic leadership and management of federal digital library and repository focusing on international aid and development as well as supporting areas. The Associate will lead a team of digital librarians, metadata specialists, and other supporting staff in developing a secure, trustworthy data/information environment consisting of multiple digital repositories and some physical assets. The Associate will be responsible for total lifecycle management of the repositories and will collaborate with contract and federal staff in moving toward a trusted digital repository that meets or exceeds OAIS and other standards for data curation and preservation. Work will be performed on-site at the client’s location in Washington DC. This is a full-time contract, benefited position.
