The Loyola / Notre Dame Library seeks an experienced, energetic, creative and self-motivated librarian to fill a position within the Research & Instruction department. The successful candidate will provide user-centered services to a diverse population of undergraduates, graduates and faculty at Loyola University Maryland and Notre Dame of Maryland University.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Conduct course-related information literacy instruction; incorporating new approaches to teaching and learning into existing research & instruction programs including support of STEM campus initiatives.
  • Expand access to library services by becoming familiar with assigned liaison areas and their information needs.
  • Maintain current knowledge of the trends and issues in higher education, scholarly communication, online education, education technologies and research practices.
  • Provide general and subject specific reference and research support.
  • Participate in other department and library-wide initiatives.

The Loyola Notre Dame Library seeks a collaborative individual to support the Cataloging and
Metadata Unit. The Cataloging Assistant makes it possible for students and faculty to gain access to
the Library’s materials through timely and effective bibliographic description and organization. The
Cataloging Assistant will report to the Cataloging and Metadata Librarian and support effective
management of library holdings by performing copy cataloging of newly acquired materials in various
formats and learning metadata creation, correction, and removal standards and procedures.

Description

  • Leads and oversees the strategic direction of HCLS’ materials portfolio
  • Leads the data collection and analytical research of materials usage, turnover rates, publishing trends, and demographic data to develop strategic plans, forecasts, and to compile specialized reports
  • Assesses the value/feasibility, and oversees the expansion and the implementation of new and innovative collection items
  • Supervises materials management and data processing teams
  • Oversees cataloging and bibliographic maintenance of the public catalog, and physical processing and item inventory of HCLS materials
  • Leads the solicitation, negotiation, evaluation and overall administration of vendor contracts for materials in all formats ensuring compliance with all licensing requirements
  • Ensures access needs and requirements of all HCLS customers are incorporated into the delivery of the curriculum

Position: Research & Instruction Librarian (Information Literacy)
Location: United States Naval Academy, Annapolis, MD

We’re hiring! The United States Naval Academy invites applications for an exciting position as Research and Instruction Librarian and Information Literacy Coordinator. Located on the beautiful Severn River in historic Annapolis, the Naval Academy is a Middle States accredited, top tier liberal arts college and service academy with a diverse student body and a demonstrated commitment to teaching and research. The librarian in this position will have an essential role in designing and fostering an innovative information literacy program that supports and enhances the mission and learning outcomes of the USNA curriculum. As a member of the Research & Instruction Department, this librarian will provide research assistance, teach information literacy and serve as subject specialist for faculty and midshipmen for one or more of the disciplines, preferably English, taught at the Naval Academy. Engineering has a central role in educating midshipmen to address the technological needs of the Navy and Marine Corps. The Research and Instruction Librarian for Engineering will teach information literacy, provide research assistance and serve as subject specialist for faculty and midshipmen in this important discipline. Candidates with a science or engineering background are preferred. This is a 12 month faculty position with a 3 year renewable appointment, highly competitive salary, and full federal benefits.
