The selectee for this position will serve as a Supervisory Librarian (Medical Sciences) in the Health Sciences Technical Service Department, F. Edward Herbert School of Medicine, Office of the Assistant Dean for Teaching and Research Support, Learning Resource Center, Technical Services Branch of the UNIF SRVS UNI OF THE HLTH SCI.

The Uniformed Services University of the Health Sciences (USUHS) is the nation’s fully accredited federal school of medicine and graduate school of nursing. The successful selectee will perform the following duties:

Coordinating and consulting with faculty to determine kinds and quantities of informational material necessary for scholarly research investigations.
Providing clientele with guidance and access to information resources, both within the physical confines of the library and through databases, telecommunications networks, and cooperative arrangements.
Using substantial knowledge of broad subject matter area and customer interests to determine and establish cataloging and indexing policies.
Developing user orientation programs and providing training to staff on multi-service catalog and bibliographic records and software.
Providing explanations of library policies and procedures to other national and international libraries and agencies.

Position: Access Librarian
Location: Anne Arundel Community College, Arnold, MD
Salary: $58,000.00 – $75,000.00 (Yearly Salary)

Twelve-month faculty position that includes the following duties and responsibilities:

  • Manage circulation, reserves, stacks maintenance, and shelving functions.
  • Supervise, train, coach, schedule, and evaluate staff assigned to access services, and work at the desk as necessary.
  • Collaborate with the systems librarian to maintain and update circulation and reserves parameters, policies, and reports.
  • Provide copyright information to college faculty, staff, and students.
  • Manage the library’s archives.
  • Collaborate with the accounts receivables office to place delinquent library accounts into collections and monitor outstanding cases.
  • Particiapate in the library instruction teaching rotation and provide reference services to library patrons. Support online learners within the learning management system environment.
  • Participate in collection development.
  • Collaborate with others in the library and elsewhere at the college to enhance library services.
  • Represent the library on college committees and with library and community organizations.
  • Maintain statistics to facilitate making data driven decisions.
  • Participate in a program of professional development to maintain currency of job knowledge and increase job skills.
