The Librarian II – Business Specialist is responsible for the Library’s Business Center that provides business information, materials, and services that support a local and statewide customer base in the Pratt Library’s role as Maryland’s State Library that includes:
Develops local and statewide outreach programs
Designs and presents training workshops for the general public and the Maryland library community
Provides training and support to the Library Associate Training Institute in the area of business reference; designing online courses, learning modules, and web-based subject guides
Provides one-on-one customer assistance with the business plan research process
Makes recommendations to the Collection Management Department for the ordering of materials in a variety of formats relating to general business information, industry trends, business plan writing and personal finances
Answers customer inquiries concerning business information and provides consultation services to customers conducting business research
Provides a full complement of reference desk and telephone service hours delivering reference and research support to general Business Science and Technology Department customers providing reference and readers advisory services in the all subject areas represented in the larger department
Takes an active role in addressing appropriate SLRC Annual Plan and Enoch Pratt Free Library Strategic Plan initiatives.
The Specialist evaluates the Center’s programs and performance
Submits a monthly and an annual report describing accomplishments and annual outcomes to the Chief of the State Library Resource Center as well as to outside funders as required.
