This position is organizationally located in the Office of the Chief Information Officer (OCIO), Institute of Museum and Library Services (IMLS). The incumbent serves as Information Technology (IT) Specialist (Records and Information Management) with the primary responsibility of managing the agency’s records, and will coordinate with OCIO, and staff to ensure electronic records are archived and stored in conformance with the laws, regulations, and policies of the Federal Records Act, OMB Circulars, the National Archives and Records Administrations (NARA) relative to the use of information technology to improve government performance and federal accountability for managing records and information collection activity. The incumbent is expected to provide advice in all areas of how electronic records maintained in various systems are captured, managed, stored, and dispositioned. The incumbent will be responsible for implementing and managing the agency records management (RM) program with a focus on implementation and administration of the records management and document program, and developing new techniques that replace traditional records identification, maintenance and disposition of records throughout the life cycle for improved effectiveness and efficiency. The incumbent will modernize records management functions by managing the transition of agency paper records to electronic records.
