The Chief Information Officer (CIO) is the principal advisor to the Under Secretary and Director on the application of information technology (IT) to support and improve the Agency’s business processes. The Office of Information Management Services delivers quality information products and services to meet USPTO, public, and intellectual property community needs and ensures the quality and integrity of the intellectual property data. The Public Information Services Group provides access to collections of patents, trademarks and related information. It promotes dissemination of information to the public on the use of patent and trademark information systems. The Public Search Services Division (PSSD) provides customer support, outreach, and public training in the use of patent and trademark information, systems and search tools. The Patent and Trademark Resource Center Program (PTRCP) manages and coordinates the national network of Patent and Trademark Resource Centers (PTRCs) and supports the patent and trademark information services provided to their public patrons. This position is established to provide professional librarian and other program leadership services to a nationwide network of non-Federal libraries participating in the national network of PTRCs and to agency librarians and other staff.

The Librarian provides support for the Learning Resource Center, ensuring that it is an extension of the classroom by helping students, staff and faculty develop the information literacy skills needed for academic and professional success. The Librarian works independently and with other Librarians to provide reference and information literacy services, maintain library functions, and complete projects as needed. The Librarian also provides frontline support for Stratford’s etextbook program, as well as oncall support for proctoring in the Student Success Center.

We are seeking a Librarian Supervisor to lead the Central Library Adult Services unit and serve as primary backup to the Central Library Division Chief. In this latter role, the person will be critical in managing all the work units at Central Library and the facility in the absence of the Division Chief. We welcome candidates with strong leadership experience and customer service ethic.
Major duties of this position include:
Contributing to strategic planning and evaluation of Library policies, programs and procedures;
Managing / overseeing daily operations and customer service delivery from the Central Reference Desk;
Overseeing the Central adult collection, in collaboration with the Library’s Selection Specialist;
Overseeing public computer and other technology offerings for adults; and
Working with unit to create and implement dynamic programming and services that meet the current and anticipated needs of the community.
