This position is located in the Science and Business Reference Section, Science, Technology & Business Division, Collections and Services Directorate, Library Services.

The incumbent serves as a Reference and Research Specialist in the ST& B division to assist patrons in formulating search strategies and gaining access to the information and materials contained in the Library’s rich collections of materials on these subjects. Constituents are served in person and via email, the telephone, other electronic communication, and traditional correspondence. The Reference and Research Specialist also has collection development responsibilities in his/her field of expertise, and produces bibliographic publications, online reference tools, scholarly programs and colloquia on topics in the areas of their specialties.The Specialist is also expected to maintain current and extensive knowledge of trends in his/her specialized field and of advances in reference technology, particularly in a digital environment.

Salary Range: $64,650.00 to $84,044.00 / Per Year

The analyst will locate and interpret factual information; conduct research; prepare objective, nonpartisan descriptive, background, and analytical reports; and participate in team research projects and seminars. The analyst is also expected to develop over time the skills necessary to provide public policy and legislative analysis and consultation to congressional committees, Members, and staff at increasingly sophisticated levels.
