Position: Library Services Supervisor
Location: Frostburg State University, Frostburg, Maryland

Responsibilities: Under general supervision of the Catalog Librarian, perform basic resource description cataloging of library materials in electronic, print, audio-visual media, and other formats. Supervise a full-time Library Services Specialist. Add library holdings information to various local, USM, and global online library database systems. Maintain local library information and perform routine database maintenance to ensure accuracy and integrity for ease of research and resource accessibility. Accuracy and attention to detail are essential. Collect and report statistical data on new titles cataloged and revisions to existing catalog records. Other related duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree and three years of experience directly related to the primary duties of the position with at least one year in a lead or supervisory capacity. Thorough knowledge and understanding of the nature and function of libraries; of library services, standards, and procedures; of bibliographic tools and records, publishing and publication formats, and library information storage and retrieval systems. Skill in using a computer to input and retrieve information.

Preferred Qualifications: Working knowledge of cataloging rules; general awareness of Library of Congress classification schedules and subject headings. Experience with editing machine-readable cataloging (MARC) bibliographic and holdings records, the OCLC global library catalog, and/or the cataloging module of an integrated library system (ILS). Demonstrated experience with proofreading or other detail-oriented work. Proficiency to compile statistics and prepare Microsoft Excel spreadsheets. Strong oral and written communication skills and the ability to interact effectively with a diverse group of individuals.

Other: Except for qualifications established by law, additional related experience and formal education in which one has gained the knowledge, skills, and abilities required for full performance of the work of the job class may be substituted for the education or experience requirement on a year-for-year basis with 30 college credits being equivalent to one year of experience.
