Position: Outreach Librarian
Location: Anne Arundel County Public Library – Annapolis, MD

Minimum Requirements:

Possession of a Master’s Degree in Library Science from an American Library Association-accredited program, two years work experience in a library, and supervisory experience preferred.
Responsibilities:

This is varied professional work in providing outreach to the public of all ages. Helps to plan and coordinate System Outreach, including, but not limited to School Outreach, Early Literacy outreach, Community Engagement, Latino Outreach, and Summer Reading Club outreach. Assists in the development of services that are designed to fulfill outreach goals and objectives in the Library’s strategic plan. May participate at a system level in training, planning, and other committee activities or projects.

Interviews will tentatively be scheduled in mid-late June. Tentative target start date will be mid July 2016.


Position: Circulation Supervisor

Minimum Requirements:

Graduation from a standard high school or equivalency program including or supplemented by computer training, and five years of circulation desk experience in a public or academic library setting, including two years supervisory experience.
Responsibilities:

Supervising the circulation functions at a regional or large community library and training, scheduling and supervising the work of circulation staff, and by extension, pages and volunteers, in the registration of customer and the circulation of library materials, and the performance of related clerical and collection maintenance procedures. Circulation Supervisors work at the circulation desk themselves, providing prompt and courteous attention to library customers in registering borrowers, circulating library materials, collecting fines and other charges, and explaining library policies and procedures regarding the use of the library’s facilities and services.

Interviews will be tentatively scheduled in mid/late June. Tentative target start date will be mid/late July, 2016.


Position: Library Assistant Part-Time

Location: Sandy Spring Friends School – Sandy Spring, MD

Sandy Spring Friends School

The School seeks a knowledgeable and organized person to support multiple aspects of the all-school library program. The position involves approximately 18 hours per week in the afternoon.

Responsibilities include:

Prepare books and other media for addition to the library collection
Participate in servicing and maintaining the library collection, including retrieving, shelving, and checking books in and out
Assist and supervise students who are using the library in the afternoons, including closing the library at the end of the day
Work with librarians on the creation of library displays, executing library inventories, creating library curriculum materials, and supporting other library program facets

Qualifications and Skills:

Fluency in written and spoken English; experience with library work in a school setting; high school degree required (bachelor’s degree in library science or related field preferred); ability to work afternoons; good interpersonal and problem-solving skills; basic computer literacy with applications, circulation software, internet searches, and email; detail-oriented, self-organizing, and self-motivated; experience working with elementary, middle, and high school children.
