The Head of the Research and Programs Section in the American Folklife Center (AFC) shares with the Director of the AFC the overall responsibility for administering, planning, implementing, and evaluating research and program activities of the AFC to ensure the overall mission of the AFC to preserve and present American folklife. The purpose of the position is to coordinate AFC folklife, ethnomusicology, documentary media, research and program activities; to survey, analyze, and provide professional services related to the AFC’s acquisition activities, including long-range planning as well as day-to-day responsibilities; to represent the AFC and Library on matters pertaining to AFC programs, research and acquisitions; to perform other duties related to the AFC or in support of the Office of the Associate Librarian for Library Services, as assigned; to develop policies and procedures to ensure compliance with AFC’s statutory mission, Library goals; and to serve the Library’s many constituencies, including Members of Congress and their staffs, the Congressional Research Service, representatives of other government agencies, the general public, scholars, academic institutions, and other folklife constituencies.

Position: Library Technician (Office Automation)
Location: Immediate Office of the Chief of Naval Operations – Washington, D.C.
Salary Range: $43,684.00 to $56,790.00 / Per Year

Carry out circulation functions and procedures, including but not limited to, processing inter-library loans, registering and maintaining borrower accounts, charging and discharging materials, sending overdue notices, shelving/re-shelving materials, and providing statistical circulation reports

Perform Library procurement of monographic materials, books, serials and supplies through various ordering systems

Modify existing Online Computer Library Center (OCLC) records and prepare books for shelf readiness

Process and receive shipments of material approved by the Head of Reference and the Library Director to and from the vendor selected for Library binding

Execute digitization functions and procedures, including but not limited to, original scanning, proofreading, and correction of digital content, formatting, and application of established metadata

Provide a variety of Administrative functions to support the Library as directed

Location: Arlington County Public Library – Arlington, VA

Arlington County, VA seeks a Digital Archivist to carry out a full range of archival functions on digitized, born-digital and physical archival materials according to archival standards and best practices and to provide expertise in establishing archival policies and procedures related to the curation of these materials.

This newly created full time position located in the Central Library will be responsible for planning, managing, and executing the digitization and other archival projects for the community archival collections with a focus on the digitized, born-digital and physical archival materials.
