Supervisory Librarian (Section Head) (Vacancy #: 150305)

The Supervisory Librarian will serve as the Section Head and is responsible for managing the work, including acquisitions and cataloging functions and performing administrative and human resources management functions relative to the staff supervised. Participates in the development of national policies for major cataloging programs, and consults with colleagues as well as the staff of libraries throughout the nation and the world involved in cooperative cataloging projects.

The incumbent uses expert knowledge and skills in the area of library binding and shelf preparation, collections conservation de-acidification and cataloging to preserve and make accessible the Library’s heavily accessed general, reference and law collections with a great deal of independence in an exemplary manner. The Library Binding Section is responsible for administering the Library’s program for the binding and the rebinding of materials in the collections, and the physical shelf preparation of all Library materials.
