SUMMARY

The Global Search Manager leads and manages the daily operations of the firm’s enterprise search platform, and works in close coordination with other stakeholders within the firm to define the requirements that dictate the platform’s roadmap. This position is responsible for improving the ability for users to search and find the right content when they need it. This position is part of the Global Knowledge and Research department.

JOB DESCRIPTION

Align the firm’s search implementation to business goals and emerging user requirements.
Coordinate the creation and management of a continuous search improvement roadmap that is responsive to technology options, user requirements, and content organization.
Coordinate search team resources within the firm, inclusive of enabling timely and effective tier 2/3 user support in close coordination with the IT Service Delivery team.
Liaise with content platform owners (intranet, knowledge, DM, marketing, etc.).
Ensure proactive content quality management – required to ensure that required content can be found, is safe and reliable, and can be leveraged by the business as a competitive asset.
Define search performance metrics, reporting against them on a regular basis in effort to monitor performance success, and take overall responsibility for the management of search.
Complete the analysis and interpretation of search logs and feedback to improve results through saved searches, recommended results, improved filtering, refining, and tagging (in close partnership with Platform Development).
Lead large-scale improvement projects to integrate new sources of content into Enterprise Search.
Ownership of the user interface for Enterprise Search and People Search.
Develop and manage communications programs, training, and user support services.
Keep aware of emerging best practices in search implementation; Ensure the definition and effective use of Taxonomies and metadata.
Ensure the provision of publisher training, based on the interplay between the technology and meaningful results.
Take appropriate action if content is not found through search/browsing or inappropriate content is surfaced.

HOURS

Core hours are Monday through Friday, 8:30 a.m. – 5:30 p.m. or 9:00 a.m. – 6:00 p.m., including one hour for lunch. Must be flexible to work additional hours as needed.

REQUIRED SKILLS

Experience managing a Global Enterprise Search initiative.
Ability to analyze customer requirements and/or behavior and provide appropriate alternatives and solutions to meet the customer’s need.
Ability to communicate at the right level with a broad range of individuals in our global offices and to engage them to help influence change.
Knowledge of SharePoint and intranets; Knowledge of internal search applications.
Ability to develop a good understanding of the business and its strategy, and ensure this is conveyed through a best-practice search experience.
Knowledge around maintenance of taxonomies, thesauri, and controlled vocabularies including the analysis of feedback, user metrics, and search log trends.
Strong project management skills and the ability to work under pressure, against a variety of deadlines, with a virtual team of individuals, located in a variety of time zones.

PREFERRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

Experience working in a professional services organization with multi-cultural stakeholders across the world.
Experience with non-SharePoint based document management systems.
