DUTIES:

This position is located in the Department of Program Services, Court Services Office, Programs Division, National Programs Branch. The Branch provides management and oversight support services to the Judiciary’s National Library Program. The individual selected for this position will be responsible for the operational control of legal resources acquisitions, play a key role in research and policy development for the library program, serve as the subject matter expert in library and legal research programs and acquisitions, and act as a facilitator among members of the Circuit Library consortium and a liaison between the National Library Program and the Administrative Office.

DUTIES:

The incumbent of this position has the primary responsibility of assisting the Bureau’s Librarian with carrying out the duties and functions of operating the Library program. The incumbent will oversee the administrative staff, maintain the Library’s automated system, mount and edit documents and files for the Library’s web page on the Bureau’s Intranet, and provide interlibrary loan and document retrieval/delivery for the staff of the Bureau of Prisons. The incumbent locates reference sources to assist in responding to some reference questions. Other responsibilities include assisting the Librarian with credit card ordering and being responsible for time and attendance of the Library staff. The position requires that the incumbent performs most functions independent of immediate supervision. During the absence of librarian, the technician is responsible for continued reader services and functional operation of the library.
