The Reference Services Assistant is responsible for providing basic reference services. The work involves staffing the Reference Services desk, providing library instruction to patrons, and providing support for departmental services and activities.

Specific duties include, but are not limited to:

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required:

The reference, research and interlibrary loan activities of the library.
Conducting routine retrieval of cases, articles, dockets and other requested materials.
Acquiring requested materials through interlibrary loan and other document retrieval processes.
Daily general library maintenance tasks including circulation file maintenance and shelving of library materials.
Any other additional public services or technical services tasks as assigned.
The position communicates with attorneys and staff in multiple offices in addition to external service providers.
One or more years of experience in a customer?centered support position within (1) a library or (2) a legal setting or (3) office setting.
Experience with an integrated library system, online bibliographic databases and database applications.
Proficiency with standard PC application and navigating the internet.
Familiarity with legal materials and citation formats is also desirable.
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent library experience strongly preferred.
