Vacancy #16-19, Assistant Branch Manager II – Children’s Services – Bel Air Branch

Responsible for directly supervising the children’s services staff and oversees, plans and implements children’s library programs at HCPL’s largest branch; Provides reference, collection maintenance and readers’ advisory services to the public, and works on reference desk as required. Serves on the branch management team assisting with branch operations and activities and may assist with teen and adult programs and reference services; Participates in training of reference staff; Supervises other branch staff and volunteers, as assigned or needed. Shares a leadership role in developing system-wide children’s services and activities. Starting Salary: $52,099 – $57,310, annual based on 37.5 hour work week, commensurate with experience. Vacancy #16-20, Branch Manager I – Darlington Branch (30 Hours per week)

Responsible for and overseeing general operations of library branch including directly supervising staff, circulation services, programming, information, collection development, and reader’s advisory for adult, teen and children’s. Act as a liaison between branch staff and administration. Oversees a staff of 4 in our limited service hour branch. Starting Salary: $29.37 per hour/pro-rated benefit package. Vacancy #16-21, Specialist IV – ILS (Polaris system)

Manages the day-to-day responsibilities associated with the library’s integrated library system (ILS), including circulation, cataloging, acquisitions, ILL modules, and associated databases and systems, and ensures optimal performance; Serves as ILS liaison with Harford Community College; Provides technical assistance to vendors & support organizations with the ILS; Recommends and implements ILS modules and enhancements to advance processes and improve customer service; Ensures accuracy & integrity of the library’s databases of MARC bibliographic, item and customer records; May make presentations or represent the library with other organizations. Position: Assistant Branch Manager I
Location: Lexington Park Library, St. Mary’s County Library
Salary: Grade 6, starting at $43,381. Salary will be commensurate with experience and qualifications. Excellent benefits.

NATURE OF WORK:

Under the direction of the Lexington Park Branch Manager and as a member of the Library’s Management team, directs and coordinates operations and activities for the collection, information, programs, and outreach services for all ages. Some of the duties for this position include the following: plans, implements and evaluates all collection and information services for the branch; plans and conducts programs for all ages; negotiates and resolves difficult customer transactions; hires, supervises and develops staff; collaborates with local organizations; serves on branch management team; participates in county and regional teams. This position requires some evenings and weekends, depending on the scheduling needs of the branch, community or professional meetings.

Queen Anne’s County has an opening for a Youth Services Librarian.

Our Kent Island Branch is seeking a youth services librarian to serve babies, children, and teens and their families through programming, collection development, readers’ advisory, and reference services. Use your dramatic and artistic talents to bring positive change to diverse individuals, families, and schools. Shape our summer reading events by keeping up with the latest trends and technology. Develop leadership, organizational, and decision-making skills as a member of our youth services team.

Applicant must be comfortable leading early literacy story times and knowledgeable about Every Child Ready to Read. Ideal candidate will be involved in professional organizations and dedicated to outstanding customer service, including adult public service and circulation assistance when necessary.

Full-time schedule (35 hours per week) includes one evening a week and one Saturday per month. MLS from an ALA accredited institution required. New graduates and spring 2016 graduates are encouraged to apply. Hiring range $47,278- $55,466 (dependent upon experience). Comprehensive benefits package.
