The Technical Services Specialist, a position that is part of the technical services division of the research services department, is responsible for the control and management of print and electronic continuing resources (serials), intake and processing of new materials for all U.S. offices, and collection maintenance activities.

Job Responsibilities:

-Receives sorts and disperses all Research Services packages, mail and deliveries for all U.S. offices.
-Handles all phases of processing print materials for inclusion in the collections of all U.S. offices.

-Tracks and inventories all print materials received and dispersed using the integrated library system.
-Updates and maintains accurate circulation lists in the integrated library system.
-Distributes all circulated and collection materials originating from Research Services.
-Claims missing supplements, books, and serial issues with publishers and maintains system for tracking claimed items until receipt.
-Updates and maintains records in the integrated library system. Updates and adjusts enumeration patterns based on publication changes and irregularities.
-Updates records to reflect subscription cancellations and other changes.
-Assists with the maintenance of eBook and other electronic resource collections.
-Participates in collection maintenance activities including but not limited to shelving and shifting, shelf reading, weeding and off-site storage.
-Works with other members of the Technical Services teams on special projects.

-Performs other related duties as assigned.
-Overtime may be required.

Education:

-The position requires a Bachelor’s Degree. Equivalent training and experience will substitute for education.

Experience:

-The position requires a minimum of one (1) year of directly related experience during which the knowledge, skills and abilities of the position were attained. Library experience is preferred. Experience using an integrated library system desirable; direct experience with EOS advantageous.
