About the opportunity: The Leading Niche is seeking a smart; details oriented Reference Librarian. The Reference Librarian will provide reference services to one of our large federal clients nationwide as the sole Reference Librarian. The ideal candidate will answer quick and in-depth business and legal research questions via email, telephone, or in-person using online, database, and print resources and provide circulation, document delivery and inter-library loan services. RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE, BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO:
Library Reference Services
• Provide reference services to staff nationwide as the sole Reference Librarian
• Answer quick and in-depth business and legal research questions via email, telephone, or in-person using online, database, and print resources
• Provide circulation, document delivery and inter-library loan services
• Maintain statistics of all reference, document delivery, and inter-library loan services
• Perform additional related projects/tasks as needed
• Document reference requests in log
• Create process maps to visually document the steps required to perform both common and complex reference duties and maintain them in a shared procedure file
• Schedule training for users of online products
• Work with appropriate library staff to resolve any recurring problems
• Ensure quality control and timeliness of work performed

Qualifications:
• Four year degree
• 2-5 years experience as a Reference Librarian
• Beyond Z Attitude. Willingness to go above and beyond the job requirements to be innovative and support the organization.
• Great oral and written communication skills
• Excellent technical skills

The ideal candidate will provide general library technical support services as needed by creating cataloging records for new titles, developing new procedures as needed and updating existing procedures when changes occur. RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE, BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO:

Librarian
• Provide reference services to staff
• Perform duties of staff in times of increased work volume, or in the event of absences
• Develop new procedures as needed and update existing procedures when changes occur
• Work with appropriate library staff to resolve any recurring problems
• Create cataloging records for new titles
• Provide general library technical support services as needed
• Receive, process and label incoming books
• Re-shelve all books, periodicals, newspapers and other library materials, recording in appropriate files
• Shelf-read Library’s print and media collection, re-shelving and shifting

The Discovery Services Librarian contributes to the Library’s mission of delivering a seamless experience to users for discovery library resources and services in the development, support, and maintenance of all library discovery services, catalog, and strategies for the discovery of library resources and services. The Discovery Services Librarian applies their knowledge and experience with discovery tools and library technologies. Duties include but are not limited to:

Works in collaboration with library staff, university faculty, and students to develop, implement and assess policies, practices and technologies designed to enhance library resource and services discovery and sharing.
Works on a wide variety of projects, both individual and collaborative in scope, identifies ways to improve, extend, and integrate the Libraries’ various search tools and online environments.
Provides expertise and works collaboratively with library staff in public services, technical services the library website, institutional repository and archives to develop strategies for discovery and access.
Participates actively in the ongoing planning and delivery of access points for the discovery of library resources and services by faculty, students and researchers.
