Two Law Library Positions – Washington, D.C.

Job Title: Librarian — Allen & Overy, LLP

Overview
The Washington DC office of Allen & Overy LLP, a global 100 firm, is seeking a Librarian to join our dynamic library services department. This individual will report to the Senior U.S. Manager of Library & Information Services and support the research needs of the N.Y and Washington DC offices, as well as the firm’s global needs. The ideal candidate would be an integral part of a team of librarians, and provide legislative, reference and research services, analyze and report on key findings and perform administrative functions.

Key Requirements:

Masters in Library and Information Science required
Minimum of three years of law library experience. Prior experience with analyzing research findings preferred

Qualifications:

Ability to perform legal, business, and technical research using a variety of resources in multiple formats
Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively and professionally with lawyers and staff, both in written and verbal communications
Strong analytical abilities
Aptitude for detail and accuracy
Ability to prioritize multiple tasks and meet deadlines
Ability to work well under pressure
Strong interpersonal and client service skills required, including understanding and responding in a timely matter to a variety of inquiries and requests
Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team located in different locations
High degree of sensitivity to confidential matters
Ability to work in a fast-paced environment in both team and independent settings

Key responsibilities

Provides in-depth as well as quick reference research services (including legislative research) for lawyers and staff utilizing both electronic and print resources
Ability to analyze and summarize research findings
Conducts online research using multiple resources including but not limited to LexisNexis, Westlaw, Westlaw Business, Westlaw Monitor Suite, Westlaw Court Express, Courtlink, Pacer, Thomson One, Bloomberg, and Dun & Bradstreet
Monitors and responds to requests locally and firm wide
Participate in training to attorneys and staff in the use of online and print library resources
Participates in creation and maintenance of online library newsletter and intranet pages
Maintains on-going professional development through review of legal and library publications, attending professional association seminars and meetings, receiving regular training from vendors
Bills for time as appropriate
Circulation and bar coding as needed
Performs other duties as assigned, including both Firm wide and local library projects
Perform any and all other duties as necessary for the efficient functioning of the team
