The incumbent of this position serves as a Supervisory Librarian, and s/he oversees the Knowledge Management Team’s work within OPIA. S/he provides comprehensive reference, research, advisory, evaluative, and instructional services to individuals and groups organization-wide; and provides for extensive use of electronic networks, contracts, and interagency agreements in order to provide critical and timely information to the attorneys of OPIA.

Reporting to the Director of Research and Instruction, the Head of Access Services is responsible for providing administrative oversight of Access Services, including planning for user services and management of resources and personnel; overseeing the selection, supervising, and training of full-time and part-time staff in the provision of stacks management, resource sharing, reserves, circulation, and collections security in the main library; and working with the campus librarians to standardize and coordinate Access Services policies and procedures across service points. In consultation with the Director of Research and Instruction and approval of the University Librarian, the Head of Access Services will establish policies and procedures, develop and implement new services to meet changing user needs, manage the collection of patron service charges, fines, and fees; provide outreach on access services to the campus community, including Technology Services, Enrollment Services, Alumni Relations, and the Department of Public Safety; and participate in committees and task forces on access services in the Washington Research Libraries Consortium.
