Research Librarian

The Washington DC office of Finnegan, one of the world’s leading and largest intellectual property law firms, is seeking a Research Librarian to join our dynamic library services department. This individual will report to the Manager of Library Services and support the research needs of the Washington DC office as well as the firm’s regional offices. This position can reside in the firm’s Washington D.C., Boston, Massachusetts, or Atlanta, Georgia office.

Responsibilities include: providing extensive legal, business, IP and general research assistance, delivering legal, scientific and other documents, initiating and monitoring alerts from various databases, providing client development research support, participating in special projects as assigned by the Manager of Library Services and providing training to attorneys and other staff.

Successful candidates must have three or more years of relevant experience in a law library or corporate setting; MLS degree, or other advanced degree strongly preferred, knowledge of computer systems in general, ability to meet deadlines and manage a diverse workload in a fast-paced environment, and ability to work independently or as part of a team.  Working knowledge of legal and business databases such as Lexis/LexisAdvance, Westlaw/WestlawNext, ProQuest Dialog, CourtLink and Hoover’s; intellectual property and/or scientific research experience preferred.
