Columbus School of Law – Director of the Law Library

The Columbus School of Law at The Catholic University of America in Washington, DC, invites applications for a full-time Director position in the law library, beginning as soon as the position can be filled. We seek an established director with a strategic vision, fiscal stewardship and operational management to the Law Library, who insures excellent service to the faculty, students and staff in the School of Law. The Director is a key member of the School of Law’s senior leadership team and provides leadership and management to the librarians and staff of the Law Library. The Director of the Law Library reports directly to the Dean of the School of Law.

The Dean and the Director of the Law Library, in consultation with the law faculty, shall determine library policy. Within that context, the Director is responsible for library leadership, strategic planning, and selection of research resources. This includes: development of grant proposals; facilities planning; web page design and content; compliance with ABA and AALS accreditation standards; participation in local, regional and national library consortia; application of emerging technologies in automated library systems and information access; and maintaining the law library as an active and responsible presence in the educational life of the School of Law. The Director participates in School of Law governance as a member of the law faculty.

Applicants should have a J.D. from an ABA-approved law school and a Master’s degree in Library or Information Science. Applicants should have a background in academic law library administration, research, teaching, budgeting, automated library systems, and online library systems.
