Web Services Librarian
UMBC, an honors university in Baltimore, Maryland, seeks an innovative librarian to oversee the development of the Library’s web services and provide general reference and instruction services to faculty, staff and students.
The Web Services Librarian takes a leadership role in the vision, design, and management of an evolving library web presence in order to meet the needs of the students, faculty, and staff of the University. The successful candidate will be responsible for ongoing analysis of the Library’s web architecture, improving the user experience, and creating a holistic web design to streamline access to services and resources. This position will chair the Library Web Committee and design and deliver appropriate training and documentation in support of all library staff and units. The successful candidate will work closely with librarians and other library staff to identify, develop and implement web delivery of resources, services, and information; work with appropriate Library UMBC Information Technology staff to develop and maintain equipment and software; assist with library assessment projects; provide reference and instruction services, including some nights and weekends; and serve as liaison to academic departments. The successful candidate is expected to maintain an aptitude for current technologies and research emerging technologies and recommend changes, when appropriate.
Professional library experience preferred. Experience with XML and building mobile sites with HTML, XHTML, CSS and jQuery also preferred. Graphic design experience a plus.

SALARY AND BENEFITS: Position is a 12-month library faculty appointment at anticipated rank of Librarian I or II. Rank and salary will be commensurate with qualifications. Minimum salary: $50,000, comprehensive benefits. The successful candidate will be expected to meet library and university requirements for reappointment, promotion, and permanent status.
