ASSISTANT LAW LIBRARIAN
FT position available in the Montgomery County Circuit Court Law Library, 50 Maryland Avenue, Rockville, MD 20850
Duties include dealing with various levels of library patrons, providing equitable information services, both remotely and in person, to the public, legal community, judicial officers and court personnel pursuant to policies established by the Court.
Knowledge of current law library service, organization, procedures, equipment and technologies including library computer apps to enhance library administration and services is required. Supervisory experience in the areas of staffing and employee training and development required. An in depth understanding of legal research as well as superior writing skills and command of English are essential. Excellent organizational skills and customer service are of the highest priority as well as competence and temperament to communicate with the legal community, in-house court personnel, and the general public.
B.S. or B.A. degree from an accredited university with three years of public or law library experience, or Master’s degree in Library Science (MLS) from an accredited university and one year public or law library experience. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be substituted with 2 yrs experience in a court law library. Standard work schedule (8 hrs plus 1 hr lunch) between 7:30 AM and 6:00 PM. (Monday through Friday) with flexibility to accommodate late/early meetings. Starting salary: $40,952.
