Determines types of technical literature searches and sources of information to satisfy the scientific information needs of researchers and staff within the company. Conducts searches of technical literature, analyzes and evaluates data, extracts pertinent information, prepares information abstracts and bibliographies of material searched. Maintains extensive knowledge of literature resources and continuous contacts with local, national, and international information centers and agencies. Maintains and improves information retrieval capabilities. Assists in the selection of literature for inclusion in the library’s collection and may translate foreign technical literature. Keeps abreast of developments in areas of interest to the company and periodically consults with researchers and other information users to ensure maximum usefulness and service.
This position will directly support business developers, strategists, technologists, and others charged with determining the future direction of the sector. Responsibilities will include but are not limited to: company research to support portfolio analysis, strategic positioning and tactical pursuits; engineering and technical research for new product and process development; Intranet web development and maintenance for information dissemination; due diligence investigation; digital asset management; collection development and department liaison interaction.
Basic Qualifications: Master’s degree from an ALA-accredited information and library science program or equivalent; advanced PC skills in Word, Excel, Access, and PowerPoint
Preferred Qualifications: Undergraduate or second Master’s degree in a STEM (science, technology, engineering, math) discipline, MBA, Communications, History, Political Science.
