Starting Salary Range:  $46,014 – $57,518

ABOUT HCC: Harford Community College is a dynamic, open-access institution that promotes graduation, transfer, individual goal attainment, and career and workforce development.  As an integral part of the total educational effort of HCC, the Library contributes to excellence in teaching and learning by supporting and expanding classroom instruction, providing access to information in a variety of formats, and serving as a resource for the citizens of Harford County. The Bel Air, MD, campus is convenient to Baltimore, Philadelphia, and Wilmington. 
RESPONSIBILITIES: The assistant director assesses and develops the Library’s print, non-print, and digital collections; oversees reference services; and supervises one full-time and five part-time librarians, as well as student workers and volunteers.  As part of the Library’s management team, the assistant director promotes and maintains a high-level of customer satisfaction with Library services and resources.

Duties include, but are not limited to, leading collection assessment and development; managing the library materials budget; supervising reference services; overseeing digital licensing procedures and cooperative purchasing plans; teaching and participating in the library instruction program; assisting faculty and staff to understand and apply copyright policies; analyzing data and producing reports; and performing other duties as assigned by the supervisor.

 REQUIREMENTS: 

 

A master’s degree in library or information science, instructional technology, or a related field and four or more years of library experience, including at least one year of supervisory experience and one year of experience building library collections are required.  Applicants must be proficient in a Windows-based computer environment, including MS Excel.  Experience providing library reference services, library instruction, and learning outcomes assessment and development of library or related services is preferred.
