Evening Reference Librarian

Towson University seeks an energetic, customer-oriented librarian for the 2013/2014 academic  year to provide reference service and research assistance in a high-demand environment to a diverse community of students, faculty, staff and members of the community.  The librarian in this position also plans and teaches information literacy sessions.   As a member of the Research & Instruction department, this librarian participates in planning and improving library services to support learning, teaching and research at Towson University.

 

Regular hours for this temporary position are Sunday – Thursday,  2pm – 10 pm, during the Fall and Spring semesters (16 weeks from late August – December 2013; 16 weeks from late January- May 2014)

 

Responsibilities:  Provide in-person, phone and online reference, research and information assistance; plan and teach information literacy sessions; create and update instruction and bibliographic materials, help guides and tutorials in various formats;  work with faculty to integrate library instruction into courses; and  participate in departmental projects and initiatives, including assessment and collection development.

 

Requirements:  MLS from an ALA-accredited institution. Reference and library instruction experience preferred. Salary and Benefits:  $32,000 – $34,000, depending on experience and qualifications, and pro-rated depending on start date.  This position may be renewed for the 2014-15 academic year contingent on funding.
