Part-Time Reference Librarian – UMBC

Position Title: Reference Librarian

Personnel Status: Contingent I Part-Time (50%), Temporary

Responsibilities:

The Albin O. Kuhn Library & Gallery seeks a Contingent Temporary part-time Reference Librarian to provide traditional and online reference and instructional services, including evenings and weekends. This position will participate in the planning and implementation of department operations, including occasional supervision of students and staff and the coordination of projects, assist with special projects, and perform other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:

Requires a Bachelor’s degree from an accredited four year college or university and an ALA accredited MLS/MLIS awarded by winter 2013. Additional requirements include a minimum of one (1) year of experience in reference and/or other library public services department, excellent oral and written communication skills, excellent customer service skills, and the ability to work independently as well as in a team environment.

Preferred qualifications include work experience in an academic library, evidence of initiative and innovation in academic library service, and experience assisting library users via chat and email services.

Salary:

Minimum: $18 per hour or higher with completed MLS
